Ignis Privacy Policy

Ignis is a Catholic prayer companion designed to keep your personal prayer life on your device. The app does not require an account or login.

Information kept on your device

Ignis stores information you create or select for the app, such as journal entries and prayer reflections, virtue ratings, pathway enrollment and progress, calendar and spiritual-tradition choices, and appearance preferences. This information is stored locally for the app to work; Ignis does not send it to an Ignis account or journal server.

Ignis does not record spoken prayer. Text you choose to enter in the journal or a reflection is saved on your device.

Today’s Gospel and reflection

When you open Today’s Gospel & Reflection, Ignis loads content from evangeli.net inside an embedded web view. The provider receives ordinary web connection information, such as your IP address, browser information and the requested page. Its own privacy practices apply to this content. Ignis uses a non-persistent web view, so its website cookies and browsing storage are not retained between web-view sessions.

Ignis does not send your journal entries, private reflections, virtue ratings or pathway progress to evangeli.net. Today’s Gospel and reflection require an internet connection.

Historical readings and Scripture

When the app retrieves a historical daily reading, it requests the date’s reading reference from the Catholic readings service. When it retrieves Scripture text, it sends the passage reference to Ignis’s secure Scripture endpoint, which requests the passage from the English Standard Version API provided by ESV.org.

These requests reveal the requested date or Bible reference to the relevant service. As with any internet request, the service contacted can also receive ordinary connection information, such as an IP address. The Scripture request is routed through Ignis’s endpoint; ESV.org receives the request from that service rather than directly from your device.

Offline prayer and artwork

The Gospel encounter, Rosary, Psalms and God in the Ordinary pathways include their readings and paintings in the app. Opening those bundled prayer sessions does not require a content request to an external service.

Ignis includes no advertising or third-party analytics SDK. The developer uses Apple’s App Store Connect reports to understand downloads and, where users have chosen to share diagnostic and usage information with Apple, app performance. These reports do not include your private prayer text.

Other websites

Ignis may link to Scripture, artwork and other reading sources. If you open one of those links, that website’s own privacy policy applies to your visit.

Data and account requests

Ignis has no account system and does not sync your journal or prayer progress to an Ignis server. Because this information is stored locally, the developer cannot retrieve or delete it for you.

Changes to this policy

If Ignis changes how it handles information, this policy will be updated. The effective date above shows when this version was published.
